Decisions about your taxes, public works, and school districts happen not in Washington, DC, but in our own backyards. Historically, voter turn-out in midterm elections is low, but many municipal government offices (e.g. mayors, school boards, local city/county councils) that have a great deal of impact on our everyday lives are often decided by a very small margin in these elections.
