How Women Manage the Gendered Norms of Leadership

Catch-22: A bimbo or a bitch—are those really the only options? That’s at least what this article says. Female leaders confront paradoxes on a daily basis: authoritative yet participative, demanding yet caring, and maintaining distance yet being approachable, to name a few. Through the minds and mouths of high-level female leaders, they impart strategies to harmonize these paradoxes in an effective way. For instance, adaptation to situations, searching for win-wins, and being tough on tasks and soft on people are ways to leverage both ends of the equation.
