Currently, Gilda Cobbs-Hunter represents District 66 as a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, a position she has held for 28 years. She is one of the nine currently serving that are making history for the most African American women in our legislature. She earned her B.S. in 1973 from Florida A&M and M.A from Florida State in 1978. She has previously worked as a teacher and a caseworker for the Orangeburg Department of Social Services. She has worked as Executive Director of CASA Family Services and currently works as a Social Work Administrator. She also serves as president of the National Black Caucus of State Legislatures.
