Senate Confirmable Positions
Some board and commission appointments require the advice and consent of the Senate. These positions are noted in our database along with their corresponding Senate committees. If you are interested in serving on a board or commission that requires Senate confirmation, we recommend that you review the current members of the responsible Senate confirmation committee. Then, in addition to completing our online form, you will want to contact a committee member to schedule an appointment to explain why you are a suitable nominee for the position.
If the committee member wishes to pursue your nomination, he/she will take the steps necessary to arrange a hearing with the full committee to review your qualifications. Once approved by the committee, your name will be submitted to Governor McMaster for his approval.
While SC WIL staff does not make recommendations to individual committees, we are happy to guide you through the process and provide assistance in how best to approach committee members and prepare for your hearing.
