SC Women in Leadership is hosting the Spring Training workshop series to inspire and introduce women candidates and campaign volunteers to what they need to know to run for office. Are you ready to step up to bat??
After the November 2022 election, South Carolina dropped to an abysmal 49th in the nation with only 14% of our state’s legislature composed of women and only one woman elected to a statewide position. From the school board to the Governor’s Mansion, we need more qualified women to run for elected office.
Organizing Your Campaign: Choose Your Office & Build Your Team
Workshop 1 of 4 in the Spring Training 2023 Series
In this workshop, you will identify which office is positioned to address the issues you care about and where political opportunities exist. Then learn how to harness the community of people [you already know and those you want to get to know] who can help your campaign by voting for you, donating, volunteering, and joining your campaign team.
What office will you run for?
- Know your district inside and out
- How does the office fit with your career, family, and the demands of the position?
- Do you meet the qualifications and requirements for the position?
- Who is currently in the office and are they seeking re-election?
- Filing deadlines and requirements
Harness and build your network!
- Identify your inner circle
- Who do you need on your campaign team?
- Choose and grow your campaign community
- Relational Organizing: getting your people to spread the word
Registration is $25 per session, or bundle all sessions for $100. Registration includes refreshments and a t-shirt. Some scholarships are available.

Locations
The workshop will be offered concurrently at multiple regional locations across South Carolina as well as virtually. We encourage participants to attend in person to take advantage of the opportunity to network with other potential candidates and campaign volunteers in their geographic area.
