Spring Training – Crafting and Managing Your Message
March 11 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Workshop 3 of 4 in the Spring Training 2023 Series
SC Women in Leadership is hosting the Spring Training workshop series to inspire and introduce women candidates and campaign volunteers to what they need to know to run for office. Are you ready to step up to bat??
After the November 2022 election, South Carolina dropped to an abysmal 48th in the nation with only 14% of our state’s legislature composed of women and only one woman elected to a statewide position. From the school board to the Governor’s Mansion, we need more qualified women to run for elected office.
Crafting and Managing Your Message
Workshop 3 of 4 in the Spring Training 2023 Series
Why are you running for office and why should people vote for you? Learn how to communicate the issues you care about, the problems you wish to solve, and what sets you apart from other candidates. This session includes practical tips for developing and delivering a unique and persuasive message, making your best impression, media tips, and managing your digital presence.
Your Message
- How will you make a difference?
- Use simple language
- Connect your concerns to theirs
The Media
- First Impressions: what you wear, jewelry, makeup, demeanor (Sorry, but it’s true!)
- Do your homework. Know the issues.
- Know and stay on your message
Your Digital Presence
- Take inventory of what you’ve put out on the internet
- Establishing “public” social media and email accounts
- Keeping your private accounts private
- What can you do about the stuff out there you can’t control?
