SC Women in Leadership will celebrate its fifth birthday on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. with a photo op and press conference on the S.C. State House steps.
You are invited to join members of the S.C. Women’s Legislative Caucus and SC WIL Founders at the event. Dress in purple to show your support.
SC WIL will release its updated Annual Report sharing where women stand in representation in elected and public appointed offices in our state, how it is informing, connecting, and engaging women in leadership, and how you can get involved.
Our mission of increasing race and gender diversity and increasing the influence of women from the ground up underpins SC WIL’s three pillars: Fair Voting, Filling the Pipeline, and Reducing Polarization. Achieving that mission is more urgent than ever.
South Carolina currently ranks 47th in the nation with respect to women serving in its General Assembly (14.7%). We need to elect more women who reflect our points of view. We WIL triple the number of women running for elected and appointed office over the next 18 months, reversing the 2022 downward turn. To accomplish this, we WIL need the help of all women and men who believe South Carolina’s government must represent its citizens.
