Lead Like a Woman Circle

December 6, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm

You’re invited to join the Lead Like a Woman Circle to explore the many facets of female leadership.

Our ‘lunch and learn’ style Circle meets virtually on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 12 PM.

We’ll delve into what female leadership looks like, hear from women in power about what female leaders need to thrive, and how we can be allies. We will discuss how to lead like a woman, role models to learn from, where to get started, and why female leaders are more important now than ever.

This month, our guest speaker is Dr. Linda Bell from DHEC.

Join us to help define what it means to Lead Like a Woman!

About Dr. Linda Bell

Dr. Linda Bell was raised in El Paso, Texas.  She obtained a BS in molecular biology from the University of Texas at Austin and attended medical school and completed her Internal Medicine residency at what is now the UT Health Science Center at Dallas.  She subsequently served as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Her experience at the CDC led her to change her career plans from infectious disease practice to Public Health.  Dr. Bell has worked for DHEC for nearly 30 years and held various positions primarily involving prevention, control, and response for infectious diseases.  Health disparities and health inequities has always been a focus of that work. Dr. Bell is currently the director of DHEC’s Bureau of Communicable Disease Prevention and Control and the South Carolina State Epidemiologist.  Throughout the pandemic Dr. Bell served as a lead medical advisor in South Carolina working to provide science-based guidance to help control COVID-19 and endeavored to draw attention to addressing social determinants of health in all public health interventions, including the pandemic response, with the goal of reducing health disparities.  Dr. Bell is involved with several community organizations, and she has served on the board of trustees for EdVenture Children’s Museum, Healthy Learners, Heathwood Hall Episcopal School, and Francis Burns United Methodist Church.  Dr. Bell is married to Dr. Myron Bell, a retired cardiologist, and they are the proud parents of two young adult children.
