Circles of Women in Leadership
In groups of geographically and professionally based women from diverse backgrounds, we WIL create leadership and community through working together…
While South Carolina Women in Leadership offers information to women about fair voting, running for elected and appointed office, and access to reliable research and news, it relies heavily on communities of women to build momentum and encourage local participation in our state. These communities, or Circles, of women aim to move the state forward by informing, connecting, and engaging women of diverse backgrounds to Increase the Collective Influence of Women in Leadership from the Ground Up and Build Racial and Gender Representation from the Ground Up.
SC WIL is looking for women like you to serve as leaders of regional Circles to help increase women’s comfort and competency in a world where they face gender and racial bias and other barriers to leadership. We currently have Circles in the following regions:
- Beaufort/Hilton Head
- Low Country/Charleston
- Pee Dee
- Catawba/Rock Hill
- Grand Strand/Myrtle Beach
SC WIL also plans to expand Circles in 2021 to include not just regional Circles, but also professional Circles for women in business, law, education, technology, and medicine. Through these new circles, SC WIL will create even more ways for diverse groups of women to interact and grow. By building relationships and connections both geographically and professionally, we WIL make a lasting difference. Later, look for Circles on college campuses, generating leadership skills in young women.
Beginning in 2021, we will launch virtual events and workshops in collaboration with partners like All in Together, the Center for American Women in Politics, The Wall Street Journal, and others. These trainings will focus on a broad range of topics, including leadership skills, campaign strategies, and more.
