Catherine Cantey: Rewiring the world to be ready
Women who blazed trails are interesting, yet I am more intrigued by women who are quietly rewriting HERstory- and literally rewiring the world to be ready.
Catherine Cantey is a disrupter. In fact, she teaches people how to disrupt themselves. To connect with cutting edge thinkers, she called Marshall Goldsmith and invited herself to be at the table with entrepreneurs and stereotype breaking leaders. She started her own business blending an innovative and competitive spirit with love of community, family and friends. She chose to be a national force and bring change to South Carolina.
Living in Camden, Cantey challenges the status quo but not the underpinnings of community. She is an influencer, a strategist and a big picture thinker. Change for her is a powerful force connecting communities to opportunities. She is leading in areas that seem unrelated yet create an environment for systemic change- agriculture, telemedicine, workforce development and education.
Without fanfare, she is an executive member of the Elevate Network, a community activist, a philanthropist, and a change agent working to bring electronic connectivity to rural communities, schools and people. She will build a better SC- and I am inspired by her authentic leadership.
Dr. Linda Salane is CEO of WNN (Why Not Now) Consulting and Executive Coaching and a graduate professor in organizational leadership at Columbia College. She is a member of the board of directors, SC Women in Leadership.
