The SpringBoard Virtual Conference presented by Bank of America is designed to help you gain the confidence and knowledge to step forward and seek positions of power and influence on local, state, and non-profit boards and commissions. Don’t know the options? Our sessions will help you identify opportunities to serve that best suit your experience and interests, submit solid applications, and serve effectively once appointed.

Each virtual webinar will include a live 30-minute presentation followed by Q&A. All sessions will be available to registrants for on-demand replay.  Registration is $25 for all four sessions.

Session 1:  Springing into Action: Making a Difference Through Service on Boards and Commissions

Many women have the skills and personal experiences necessary to contribute to their local and state governments. Yet research has shown that women are hesitant to step into the political arena- mainly because most women assume the only way to publicly serve is through an elected position. This presentation will show boards and commissions serve important functions in all areas of government service. Women’s presence on these boards and commissions is not only needed- but can make a difference in how these boards operate. This presentation will provide an overview of the world of public boards and commissions and how women make a difference serving on them.

Session 3:  Selecting the Best Board for You and Submitting a Good Application

Session 4:  Board Basics: Rules of Order 101

Would you like more comfort and confidence with the rules of order (like Robert’s Rules) that have to be followed in decision-making bodies like boards, commissions and legislatures? This presentation will outline the basics about rules of order, with a particular focus on Robert’s Rules, and aims to give you the confidence you need to take the next step into civic engagement.
