Lauren Harper is a South Carolina-bred political and public affairs strategist. She is also Co-Founder and Senior Advisor for Secure the Ballot, and in partnership with The Blue Lab, she is State Executive Director of The Blue Lab SC.
She previously served as South Carolina State Director for former Congressman Beto O’Rourke’s presidential campaign. Now as a full-time consultant, Lauren is sought out for insight and counsel concerning South Carolina politics.
As former Policy and Communications Advisor for Mayor Steve Benjamin, Lauren has also had the opportunity to engage with and influence the lives of Columbia (SC) residents as a “professional ghostwriter and city builder” since 2015. Her legacy projects with the City of Columbia include creating the first municipal food policy committee in S.C. (the Columbia Food Policy Committee); launching the Books 2 Boys & Girls program in partnership with City of Columbia Parks & Recreation, Columbia Police Department and Richland Library; and hosting the state’s first peer-to-peer election for the Columbia Youth Commission.
With a passion for charting out and executing a vision, Lauren has been equipped to aid political candidates, government administrators and nonprofit leaders in identifying the best course of action and bringing those plans to life.
