If you are considering running for office, there are many resources available to you. For example, a progressive website – runforsomething.net (RFS) – which was launched on January 20, 2017, lists many of these resources. RFS, which helps recruit and support young, diverse progressives, promises that if your candidacy is accepted by the group, community and mentors will help you, you’ll be given access to resources and training and steered toward networking opportunities, and you’ll be tutored about press and social media interaction.
In 2017 and 2018, RFS elected candidates in 40 states to offices ranging from state senate to county sheriff. These candidates won because they ran grassroots-powered campaigns focusing on local issues. These winners are a progressive “bench” for the future.
